Faultless in the Presence of his Glory, Part 4: Faith for Holiness

David W Palmer

(Jude 1:24 KJV) “Now unto him that is able to keep you from falling, and to present you faultless before the presence of his glory with exceeding joy.”

Jesus is preparing a glorious church and many dwelling places in his Father’s house: “I am going to make ready a place for you” (John 14:2 NET). When he returns for his glorious church, the Bible says that we will meet him in the air, then we will be with him forever (1 Thes. 4:17). Meanwhile, he is washing us with his word, preparing us to be the glorious church—a pure, spotless, holy, sanctified wife for him (Eph. 5:26–27).

When he says he is able to present us “faultless before” the presence of his glory, this means without condemning fault in the presence of, in the sight of: his person in heaven’s throne room and secret place, the full manifestation of his glory in the glorious church, as well as at the Marriage of the Lamb:

(Revelation 19:7–9 CSB) Let us be glad, rejoice, and give him glory, because the marriage of the Lamb has come, and his bride has prepared herself. ( 8 ) She was given fine linen to wear, bright and pure. For the fine linen represents the righteous acts of the saints. (9) Then he said to me, “Write: Blessed are those invited to the marriage feast of the Lamb!” He also said to me, “These words of God are true.”

Clearly, we have a part to play in our preparation to be the glorious church—the pure bride for Jesus: “his bride has prepared herself.” In the following passage, to help us understand our responsibility in this process, the Holy Spirit says we need “faith in the supernatural working of God”:

(Colossians 2:12–13 DKJV) “Buried with him in baptism, in which also you are risen with him through the faith in the supernatural working of God, who has raised him from the dead. ...”

To walk in the fullness of what Jesus achieved for us in his death, burial, and resurrection, we need to have faith—especially in his resurrection:

(Ephesians 2:4–6 NLT) But God is so rich in mercy, and he loved us so much, (5) that even though we were dead because of our sins, he gave us life when he raised Christ from the dead. (It is only by God's grace that you have been saved!) (6) For he raised us from the dead along with Christ and seated us with him in the heavenly realms because we are united with Christ Jesus.

Father “raised us from the dead along with Christ.” This is the basis of the new birth in Jesus; and this is what we must put our faith in to walk in God’s amazing blessing of making us faultless. Faith comes by hearing from God—hearing God speak to us, quickening to us what he is saying by the Holy Spirit. The following is a God-given, faith-building passage for rock solid believing we were raised with Jesus to the new life via the new birth—the potential for which was created at his resurrection:

(Colossians 1:21–23 NKJV) And you, who once were alienated and enemies in your mind by wicked works, yet now He has reconciled (22) in the body of His flesh through death, to present you holy, and blameless, and above reproach in His sight— (23) if indeed you continue in the faith, grounded and steadfast, and are not moved away from the hope of the gospel which you heard ...

Here, the Holy Spirit confirms that in Christ, and through his new birth, he can present us “holy, and blameless, and above reproach in his sight.” The Passion translation says it like this: “now there is nothing between you and Father God, for he sees you as holy, flawless, and restored” (Col. 1:22 TPT).

Today, the only challenging obstacle standing in the way of our complete assurance of being faultless, holy, blameless, and above reproach is our faith. Scripture leaves us with no question that God has achieved this for us; only our perception of reality—coming from our past experiences, inground beliefs, and memories of having failed and sinned—carries a lying image of our inferiority and unworthiness.

Changing our inner image, our perception of reality, is our responsibility. God has given us everything we need to achieve this: the truth of his word, and his instructions of how to use it to gain its maximum power to bring faith, changed perception, and full assurance of his achievements:

God’s word is spiritual food; we need to consume the full range of its nutritious styles, histories, stories, romance, warnings, teachings, instructions, and encouragements, etc.

We need to change what we can, through immediate repentance and correction, to line up with God’s expectations of us.

When the Holy Spirit highlights passages—of where he is wanting to speak to us, impart faith, life, light, mind-renewal, etc.—we need to focus there. Revolving it prayerfully in our minds, pondering and meditating on it until we can see what the Holy Spirit is wanting us to see with our inner eyes.

We then need to renew our minds with it, completely renovate our thinking until our perception of reality—not merely our mental assent—lines up with it and can fully see that this is Gods absolute truth.

From that inner faith-filled perception of the way things are, our holy choices will follow sweatlessly through his gracious power. In complete peace, we will know that we are welcome at God’s throne of grace, that we have been made righteous and can talk to God without inferiority, guilt, pride, or fear of rejection. You will know God loves you and that he has made you right with him—able to be presented faultless in the presence of his glory … with exceeding joy.

With Father, in the spirit, as you meditate in his word, you will see gracious previews of the works he has called you to walk in. Then, you will imitate them in his power as easily as a child imitates a parent they love.

Now you are ready to walk in your part of the glorious church, and prepared to be welcomed at the marriage of the Lamb, where you will be presented faultless before the presence of his glory with exceeding joy.
