Fathers, Sons, and Male Isolation

Fathers, Sons, and Male Isolation

Jed Diamond spoke last night at our Sunday Night Speakers Meeting and brought down the house. He read from his father's journals, talked about how much he wanted to be a different kind of dad to his boys, his struggles with addiction, and the ultimate devotion of his life to men in general and to finding a way to bridge the gap between male and female mortality caused largely by male isolation in particular. He finished with a moving poem. As always the meeting was an hour long, the first 30 minutes our speaker and the second 30 minutes participants sharing their experiences. In this case, Jed allowed us to record his talk.

Our men's group meets every Sunday night at 8 pm EST. Next Sunday night my dad will be speaking on his experiences in Mississippi?in 1964 teaching at a Black college during Freedom Summer. The following week we have award winning NYT war reporter Michael Kamber who will show us some of his photographs from his time on the ground in Iraq and Afghanistan while talking about the emotional experience of finding goodness amongst tragedy.

Men please join us. Women please invite men you love. The next two talks will also be recorded so all can access after the fact.

The login for our meeting is always the same:
