Fathers

Stop running away from your children. It is your job to raise your children. Mothers were meant to be helpers. Maximum respect to single mums. A wise father knows his child. Your presence is more needed than your presents. Any fool can sire children, it takes a father to raise children.

Ephesians 6:4 (ESV) - Fathers, do not provoke your children to anger, but bring them up in the discipline and instruction of the Lord.

That’s why God is called the God of Abraham, Isaac and Jacob NOT the God of Sarah, Rebeccah and Leah/Rachel. God designed men to pass on a godly culture and instill discipline in their children. God identifies Himself as our Father, and the Father of our Lord Jesus. Not our mother. Identity crisis among children is a product of failed fatherhood. It is easier to raise noble men than to repair broken men.

Father, drop your child to school. Attend your child’s school events. Celebrate their birthdays. Take them out to play. Enroll them in sports clubs. Develop their talents. Discipline them with love. Dine together every day. Study the Bible and pray with them before they sleep. Fatherhood cannot be delegated or outsourced. That’s why you must not get children outside wedlock. Your child needs you in person.

Model values for your children. If you don’t want them to drink it, don’t drink it. If you don’t want them to be promiscuous, stop committing adultery. Model their working vocabulary. Children talk and act like their daddies. I didn’t make-it-up. Jesus said it, “…a child does what he sees his father doing – John 5:19.” In two words, the most important thing to your child – BE THERE!
