Father's Day - It's About More Than Ties
Father's Day can be convoluted for some. While some of us grew up with Dad's who were our heroes, who threw us high in the air, and always caught us; who taught us values, and set a good example...others of us did not.
Whichever category you find yourself in...here's what I'd like you to consider this Father's Day. If you didn’t, or don’t, have a relationship with your dad, I bet there’s a man in your life that has been a role model for you. It might take a minute to come up with a name, but I’d encourage you to take a little time to reflect. And when you come up with that name (or maybe even names), I’d encourage you to reach out to them and tell them thank you.
And if your dad IS your hero and is still alive...don't just tell him thank you, but let him know that you wouldn't be who you are today without him. And if he has since passed, find a way to honor him that fills your spirit.
And if you ARE a dad...I'd encourage you to read this article - whether or not you agree with Teddy Roosevelt's politics. https://2ndhalfwealth.com/was-president-teddy-roosevelt-timid-or-courageous It's not about politics, it's about being better, doing better, and realizing who we can be as father's. It's about setting an example for your kids. It's about walking the talk. Teddy's father LITERALLY walked the talk, as Teddy was a very sick boy and his father often spent long nights holding Teddy in his arms as he walked up and down the hallway.
You might be the best dad in the world, but this article encouraged me to be EVEN better. I'm a mom and not a dad, but it doesn't matter if you're a mom OR a dad...We can ALL aim to BE better, and DO better.
Happy Father's Day!
