A Father's Blessing Returned with Success, Joy and Accomplishments
Over this past Father's Day weekend, I thought of what it meant to be a father… rather a “good” father. This complex question, has a rather simple answer: you are just a small reflection of your children. Therefore, the better I am as a son, the better serviced my father will be and the better father he is to me. Of course this is a philosophical discussion and “good” is only subjective. However, what is not subjective is the blessing from one's father. When a father gives their blessings, they convey their trust and love to their child, empowering them to succeed in life. It is the greatest gift that a father can give his children, and the greatest gift a child can receive; therefore, we must return this blessing with success, joy and accomplishments.
With that stated, I want to give a huge congratulations on this Father’s Day to an incredible father, our very own, Moe Soltani, who is one of our longest staff members; going on 23 years.
Moe is a proud father of two daughters, Mahsa and Mana Soltani. Mahsa, his eldest, is a recent honors graduate from UCLA who obtained her BS in Civil Engineering. Mahsa achieved many things in her time at UCLA; from being awarded an Engineering Honors award, to being elected president of UCLA’s ASCE (American Society Of Civil Engineers) chapter. One accomplishment that stands out in Mahsa's engineering educational career is the achievement of her team's concrete canoe placing 3rd at the Regional Pacific Southwest Conference.
Moe’s second daughter, Mana, is currently a junior in UCLA set to graduate 2020. Getting in to UCLA is huge! Graduating with honors is even more exciting. With an acceptance rate of only 18%, both daughters being admitted is a major accomplishment for the family. Of the 10,000 students that apply each year, only 1,800 are accepted.
Over 135,000 applications for freshman and transfer students are submitted for fall admission. UCLA remains one of the top choice’s in the country for students and their families.
Students admitted come from different backgrounds:
- 39 percent come from racial/ethnic groups that have been historically underrepresented.
- 41 percent would be the first in their families to earn a four-year degree.
- 39 percent come from low-income backgrounds.
- 24,000 community college transfer students applied for fall 2019 admission.
In order to get in to UCLA, you need a 4.0 GPA or above, and a SAT score of 1240+ to be even considered. Both of Moe’s daughters graduated high school with 4.8 GPA. Moe's daughters achieved their goals by exceeding expectations and never settling.
At Infinity Air, exceeding expectations is our culture. Like Moe's daughters, we never settle and always strive for the best, whether that be in our products or in our services. We are able to do this because of our number 1 customers, and our team, who exceed their own expectation each day at home and in the office.
I asked Moe how he was able to do it, and his tip was:
“… make sure your kids hang out with good friends, they are, after all, who they hang out with…. all of these years, we not only supported them academically, but we made sure they sustained healthy relationships with good people.” - Moe Soltani
Thank you, Moe for all of year of service and enjoy your blessing.
