you are so right - especially absolutely when it comes to people - sure bread and cakes but people; they can be very tricky they look delicious they can smell alluring and they taste gorgeous as part of a dinner on a lovely night out but - they change when they cool off - so always put them on the rack and wait for the steam to pass and then test them and again and again and wait and see and then test them again some time later; I learned that lesson in Dubai during the heady days of the first gold rush when all manner of people dressed in Armani or boss or what ever rode into town - they were cowboys they wanted a quick buck and they would tell untruths proporting to be something they were not or representing someone who didn't exist and so many people fell at the their first hurdle - it was ugly to watch as i sat on the side lines as a little honest entrepreneur with no local partner despite offers believing in my own abilities gained from working with and for the best worldwide doing business in a straight forward hard working hard won way; people used people for their own ends, they didn't care about the vision of Sheikh Mohamed one tiny bit they cared only about themselves and how much they could make in the shortest time possible; Time and life teaches you lessons which are there to be learnt - to make you not break you as my father advised me and still advised me and do you know I would not change myself or my values not one little bit for anyone of those thousands that came riding by - Money corrupts and money and power corrupts absolutely as the saying goes - in Dubai and the Emirates away from the real people with true intent I have never seen or experienced anything like it anywhere in the world as I did between 1998 and 2010 when Dubai rose from the ocean and the mirage in the desert and Sheikh Mohammad's and Gerald Lawlessness'( canny Irish entrepreneur that he was and still is) - vision crashed and then rose again like a phoenix as you see it today - so much to say and so much still to do in the Emirates as my story is far from over there yet with some very exciting opportunities from the UK to bring to the Rulers notice - I would rather bring these to the Emirates than to Asia PAC China to be precise - why because I was given a chance to own my own tourism marketing and strategy business in 2002 when the law changed and I took that chance and I understand how "the people think" and who to trust and who not to trust bottom line I know who will deliver and who wont and having been working back in London and within the UK framework of law and with the media here and understanding honest fair play again to individuals to small businesses and owners of those, I have some helpful insights to share with those that want to hear when i am in town in Abu Dhabi in January - do get in touch if you would like to re engage professionally with us at page1world - i have missed living and working despite all things with the people in the emirates or at least some of the people those that i managed to find that were real - and i look forward to seeing them again; if you are reading this you will know who you are nicki page founder of Fusion Dubai and now entrepreneur experienced in the ways of the world and the UK law
