Fatemeh, a 4-month-old Iranian girl who suffers from structural cardiac abnormalities and has two holes in her heart and needs a life-saving surgery, has finally arrived in Portland, Oregon. She is now in the pediatric cardiology division at OHSU Doernbecher Children's Hospital waiting for her surgeries.
The hospital said treatment would begin with a cardiac catheterization, performed by Dr. Armsby, followed by a five to six-hour surgical procedure carried out by Dr. Irving Shen, a nationally respected expert on Fatemeh's condition.
Peyman Raoofi, President of Child Foundation in a statement released on February 9th said: "This was a major teamwork that involved everyone from New York and Oregon Governors, Senators, members of Congress to the U.S. Embassy staff, volunteer lawyers and even airline employees." He added this showed that humanity does not have any boundaries.
Masoud Modarres, Director of Outreach & Development of Child Foundation, met with Fatemeh and her family in the hospital to ensure that the donations collected by Child Foundation will cover additional expenses that are not covered by the hospital.
Mr. Modarres also met with Congressman Bulmenauer along with some other community activists and conveyed the family's appreciation to the Congressman for his effort to secure the visa for Fatemeh.
Child Foundation in coordination with Fatemeh's family has set up a fund for Fatemeh to help her and her family's needs while they are in the United States.
Please donate to Fatemeh's Fund and participate in helping her family during these hard days. They thank you for all your efforts. All of your donations to Child Foundation are tax deductible.
