Fate of a Sport on ESPN+

As I write this short blog, I can hear my new born son crying in the bathroom next to me with his first bath. Everyone told me "a child will bring perspective" - and that's true. A crying baby used to sound like white noise to me -- now my own child's cry makes me feel like I will stand in front of traffic for him.

When we started the PLL, I had no mortgage (still don't!), no children, no wife, and nothing holding me back to take massive risk. Fast forward 5.5 years later -- I have a family, dog, a company, shareholders, fans, players, and colleagues that I all care about. Paul Rabil and Michael Doneger wouldn't want me to say this, but I was never focused on the film. I was too busy worrying about how to make us a great company. There's perspective for you :)

During the filming of the documentary my attention was on the company. I had blinded and deep trust for Michael, Paul, Brett, Matt, Dan, and the film team to "create and capture" the authenticity of building a sports league and I believe that comes through in this film.

This journey is far from over - but this film does capture the raw moments of a start up league, competing with a predecessor, forging through a global pandemic in a business that needs live attendance, and the emotional day to day management of a high stakes public facing company.

We hope you can feel what we feel and enjoy your two hours with us as the PLL journey is just beginning.
