Fate AND OR Destiny

According to the popular belief, fate and destiny are considered synonymous, I have often wondered if they are, curiously have even googled the meaning like most of you. My own understanding still remains portable and am convinced that discovering the relevance as well the interpretation is imperative, uniquely resting on our connections. These two words are often intertwined unquestionably, thus creating an impression that they are both interchangeable as the dictionary meaning of both will have this phrase captured; 'decided before hand'. If we look closely, one of the definitions of ‘Fate' is predetermined outcome of events outside of a person’s control guided by supernatural power, whereas 'Destiny' though speaks to an established future is influenced by choices.

The key differentiation comes with the point of view we choose to adopt when inspecting the sequence of events or a given situation. In the scenario, when a person decides not to participate in an occurrence from a premise; that they cannot do anything that would alter the future, will most likely meet their fate. Thereby coining of the phrase, ‘fate intervened’, indicating more often than not that fate is referred to the result originating from a more passive place and generally speaking may carry an undesirable association. It could also be, that a lot was done towards a desired outcome, but still the final result turned out to be furthest from originally anticipated and in certain cases surprisingly even better than the expectation. A positive way to view this would be choosing to actively make efforts and choices to shape the outcome of one’s life, hence the phrase ‘you are designer of your destiny’.?

The spirit is truly reflected well in the quote by Sadhguru

Destiny is what you create for yourself & Fate is when you fail to create your Destiny

The brilliance of this statement lies in understanding that destiny seemed to be an action oriented phenomenon which allow evolved beings like you and me to continuously illuminate the path we take towards our future. This beacons a ray of hopefulness for the believers, and also presents an equally compelling argument for a skeptic. The lesson is simple; whether we meet our fate or destiny, the fortitude of it is determined by the individual’s level of consciousness. Anyone peering it with a negative frame of mind would avoid taking responsibility of the results stemming from their actions or lack thereof, thus pinning it on fate which will become a perpetual cycle. Someone assuming an optimistic state, will surely find linking threads in the outcomes and actions, no matter the subtlety, lending them a sense empowerment and propelling them towards possibilities of the future.?

The vital takeaway from this review is to remind ourselves that our ability to shape our own lives is incontestable, although a deep examination of the moment in time, appear to reveal that our control over exterior aspects is infinitesimal. The implied oxymoron is still easily perceivable and is endearingly conversant to those that aspire to understand life?by stepping out of the usual hustle and bustle of everyday. The clarity arrives swiftly in the most surprising places, usually as an epiphany if we perchance to experience the essence of our existence. I also accept as true that there are forces beyond our conceivable thoughts that impact our life’s journey in the most enigmatic manner and deserves a passionate inquiry. Surely, it is a fair assumption that the reason for us to spend 80-90 earth years is not limited to achieving only material success and build relationships but to glance at the other subjects of space and time intricately woven in our reality. The delicate veil separating the ones who see life as endless series of fateful occurrences and the ones who feel excited to fashion their destiny is quite simple to comprehend and yet at the same time may be unyielding to establish.

Let us continue to harbor the belief and remain resolute in the knowledge that ‘We are the creator and the manifestor of our lives’, influencing ‘Our destiny’ consistently. Our thoughts will encourage our actions, emotions, and energy to power the outcomes, self-fulfilling the prophesy ‘I am the maker of my destiny’ as captured beautifully in the teaching of Swami Vivekananda.?

So, take over the reins and start creating………………….Your Beautiful Destiny.
