Remember the old saying, “do you eat to live? Or do you live to eat?” Well, I live to eat.
I love food. I've always loved food.
The problem is that maybe food loves me a little bit too much.
I've always yo-yoed and gone through all these trials and tribulations as a little chubby boy.
I still am that chubby boy.
Have you ever heard of the idea of people who are fat-thin or thin-fat or something like that?
That’s me.
Maybe I’m fat-fat at the moment.
I used to go to matinees on a Saturday with my late great aunt. We used to see Bruce Lee, Terence Hill and Bud Spence movies, as well as superhero movie – ordinary people with superpowers.

We’d always ask one another, “what superpower do you wish for?” And for me, it wasn't to fly; to be invisible, to be invulnerable, to have x-ray vision, read minds all – all of these things. For me, it was to be able to eat as much food as I possibly could without putting on weight!
That to me is a superpower I still wish for.
It’s a work in progress - my life; my relationship with food, and my ability to be comfortable in my own skin.
So when people say I live for food, I wonder…would you die for food?
So if the opposite of live is die, then maybe we need to “kill” the diet; we need to take the DIE out of diet; we need to figure out how to have a long term, healthy, sustainable relationship with food that stays with us forever.
I've always said this to people, “if you can - whatever the diet is - if you can see yourself living this way for the rest of your life without reverting back to the way you were, then please go ahead by all means.”
But at the same time, it certainly does help to bring in a professional.
