In a very fast-paced life, most people lack the skills to recognize the causes of daily stress.
There are many causes of daily psychological stress at work, including long working hours, lack of job security, boredom at work and routine, administrative changes, work pressure and other reasons. It is very difficult to control all of these reasons and we can hardly control one of these reasons.
Previously, work problems ended with the end of official working hours, until mobile phones and mobile internet networks appeared, and people began to install e-mail in mobile phones, and with new phone features, notifications began to appear that cut off your conversation with others, your thinking, or your focus on a specific task to automatically start unlocking the phone to check notifications.
All of this is considered normal as long as it is during working hours, but what is really considered strange is that you interrupt your conversation with your daughter during a time of recreation at the sea or during a family lunch to check e-mail.
With the increase in responsibilities and with the pressures of modern life, you will notice that reading and responding to e-mail directly will take you from the calm blue range to the stormy red range.
About 10 years ago, I worked in an international company with 70 branches in the world. BlackBerry phones were famous for email applications, and with the time difference between countries, I noticed that the phone and email notifications did not calm down throughout the 24 hours. And I noticed a change in daily habits that were quiet to include checking, reading and responding to e-mail, and I noticed that the daily mood changes with the change in the type of e-mail, knowing that most of the messages are always out of control.

I realized the important fact that e-mail after official working hours really does not achieve much progress in work and does not affect work productivity and at the same time negatively affects mental health and wellbeing.
And I made a decisive decision in 2014, which is to work without an email on my mobile phone. Indeed, life is more enjoyable and beautiful.. I spend my time with friends and family, and my use of the phone remains for entertainment purposes only.. Yes, in emergency and urgent cases, I receive calls from my colleagues requesting an important file or responding to important inquiries, but these cases remain exceptional and occur at a maximum of once a week.
A few days ago, I decided to conduct a simple questionnaire on Linkedin to inquire about who follows the traditional method of connecting e-mail with the phone, and who follows the strange method that I follow. I noticed that out of about 100 people, more than 83% of the sample expressed that they linked e-mail to the phone.
I think employees in general and leaders in particular deserve to enjoy quiet time away from psychological stress after official working hours.
Realizing the causes of psychological stress is also a skill that deserves focus - you can imagine that the phone ringtone and the daily alarm have an effect on your mood today, let alone an e-mail that contains a complaint or a problem looking for an employee to take responsibility for it.
Try.. delete your email from the phone and try life for a week while you are cut off from work responsibilities and share your opinion with us..

1 年Everything revolved around the individual's principles and beliefs as well as the organizational eco system. I really think that after spending long, productive workdays, a person needs time to recover. This recovery can take many various forms, such as spending time with family, relaxing on the beach, reading a book, binge-watching Netflix, etc. It also relies on the role of the staff member and whether he is required to be on call or not…

1 年Great wellness hack! I'm not sure if I have the courage to do it as yet - particularly if you have clients who need results immediately and you are out with your children!
