FAST TV: All answers that you have been looking for!

FAST TV: All answers that you have been looking for!

You certainly have noticed it: the number of posts, publications and industry news around the topic of FAST TV has dramatically increased over the last couple of months. While FAST TV used to be (and still is so in wide parts) a mainly US-market phenomenon, the interest in this new monetisation method has risen elsewhere around the world now, too.

Yet, lets be honest: not many of us outside of the US market truly have in-depth knowledge what FAST TV is, least not even any profound practical experience. It might even be the case, that this new way of TV advertising is not showing the boom potential that it demonstrated in the USA. But: it is a TV distribution format that you need to look closer at if you are involved in developing your TV business - and even if you are not in TV at all. FAST TV is opening new ways of launching and managing TV channels - and hence had tremendous potential to distribute, aggregate and monetize content, to address new untapped customer segments and to create TV channels as a non-traditional TV business. Hence, you must educate yourself on the subject and, of course, we help you to do so.

Over the next couple of weeks, you will learn more about FAST TV and AVOD - all in a very practical, operational and informative setting as outlined below. We created a couple of resources, workshops and online sessions to help you get a better understanding of FAST TV. We invite you to join us on this journey and to meet us at any of the following online and/ or realtime in-person events:

Global Media Consult to host workshop on FAST TV at MIPCOM 2022

MIPCOM 2022 has selected Global Media Consult to host a workshop on FAST TV as part of the official conference programme in the Verrière Grand Audi on October 19, 2022 at 10:45-11:30H.

With the idea of providing more insight and knowledge, the conference team at MIPCOM and Global Media Consult have designed a special workshop. The session has six parallel roundtables, each of it focusing on a different aspect of the FAST TV industry. Global Media Consult invited selected consultants from its own network, who have experience and know-how on FAST TV or AVOD and matched them with representatives of key players in the industry to co-host the tables together.?

Participants will be able to hear directly from people who have done it and are in the middle of the FAST TV world on how to launch a service, monetize it and what is required technically. The workshop is meant to be very practical and operational oriented and a true learning experience for all attendees.

In specific, Stephanie Murdoch-Meyer from Total Media Solutions will look closer at how Content Owners can launch a FAST channel successfully; she will be assisted on this table by Valerio Motti from Fremantle. A key question for this table will also be if and how FAST TV content and offers might differ in Europe from how it evolved in the US market.

On another table, Dr. stephan koenigfeld from Channelfactory TV will have as co-host Jorge Balleste from TelevisaUnivision to explore how platforms can select the best content for a FAST service?with a particular focus on international markets.??

A third table is hosted by Marco Frazier (Global Media Consult) together with Stefan Van Engen from XUMO. They will look closer at the advertising and monetization options for content owners through engaging in FAST TV. They will help the participants to understand the key differences between programmatic advertising from traditional TV options and how to best utilize the inventory as a publisher.

Christian Knaebel (Global Media Consult) will have Craig Heiting (Wurl) as his table partner and together they share best practices for content platforms to use FAST TV advertising for taping into new revenue streams. They discuss how local platforms can compete in this new industry segment and what they need to look for as benchmarks.

On a fifth table, Marion Ranchet (The Local Act) will highlight together with Lawrence Schwartz (OTTera) the technical challenges for content owners to launch a FAST TV or AVOD service successfully. Their mission is to help the participants understand what a full assessment of technology vendors’ capabilities should cover and what tools are essential for a successful service.

Finally, table number six will be hosted by Janet Greco (Founder & Principal at Broadcast Projects and Executive Producer Meet & Greet Connect 365) and Thomas Link , the Founder & CEO of MUX-IP. They address the challenges that come with creating channels for FAST TV services and in particular how live channels can be launched with this new technology. What technical implications have to be looked at and how to operate this in the most cost-effective way.

All sessions will be very interactive, informative and engaging and have been organized wit the help of Bénédicte Touchard de Morant .

As space is limited, participants will have seats assigned to them on a first come, first served basis.

Media Meet & Greet Connect 365 will hold a pre-MIPCOM event focused on FAST TV.

Media Meet & Greet Connect 365 will present two pre-MIPCOM sessions on Monday 10th October, starting at 5pm CET.

Life in The Fast Lane: How Ad-Supported Streaming is Changing Television (Webinar)

The OTT industry has accelerated its adoption of the Free Ad-Supported Streaming Television, or FAST, model in the past year, bringing broadcasters and cablers along for the ride. No longer merely a repository for niche, cult content, the FAST universe is embracing major brands, content libraries, and influencers with a range of ad delivery mechanisms. The race to reach FAST audiences has drawn a host of new technology providers to the fray, as well as Connected TV players including Samsung and Roku. With more than 1,400 FAST channels in the U.S., and a growing FAST audience in Europe, the seemingly crowded space is about to get more crowded as throngs descend on the Croisette in Cannes for MIPCOM 2022.
