Fast-Track Your Success by Dealing with These 9 Dream-Killing Thoughts

Most of us can be our own worst critics. And when those moments happen, the negative thoughts in our mind can shut down our confidence, lower self-esteem, and kill pretty much any dream and million $ idea we have. That's why learning how to turn these thoughts around and make your mind work for you, not against you, is one of the keys to creating your success.

So what are the most common thoughts killing your business dream? And how can you get overcome them? Read on and find out.

  1. "It won't work."

Usually, additional thoughts that aren't too helpful follow this one: "there are too many people doing the same thing already," "I don't know enough on this subject," etc.

The underlying root of these thoughts is the lack of belief that you can succeed and especially that you can figure it out. No one has it easy when they pursue their goals. Everyone encounters challenges. The belief in your ability to overcome them gives you courage to start and keep going no matter what comes your way.

We're responsible 100% for our actions and how we react to circumstances that happen to us. Those who embrace that mindset grow themselves past the challenges and create the success they strive for.

Remind yourself of all the successes and progress you've achieved so far. Remember the adversity you encountered along the way and how you dealt with it. It is a great way to turn "It won't work" thoughts into the belief that you're capable of achieving anything you set your mind to.

2. "It's not the right time."

Or other variations of it: "I'm too old," "I'm too young," "I'll do it when …".

I learned that the same as with having kids, there's never a "perfect" moment to start something important in our lives. If we procrastinate too much, the moments will pass sooner than we realize. The best time to act is now. The past is gone, the future is unknown. What we are certain of is the present moment.

When you have a great idea take action. Even if it's just writing it down in the notebook. Otherwise, within 15 mins, your mind will either talk you out of it or forget it altogether.

Once you've written it down, take intentional time to sit down and plan it out more. Think of the steps you could take in the next little while to start implementing the idea. Once you have a plan, start implementing it one step at a time.

3. "What will others think of me if I do it"

It's though to be vulnerable. I's uncomfortable to put yourself out there and expose yourself to a potential risk of criticism by others or lack of support from the ones whose opinion you care about.

But on the flip side, do you want others' opinions and perceptions shape how you live your life? What you do and what you don't?

Being willing to be vulnerable, to feel uncomfortable, allows you take risks, make bold decisions, grow, live the way you want. And in your business, it will attract your ideal clients.

Daily journaling practice helps me and my clients believe in our capabilities and let go of worrying about what others think of us.

4. "I'm too busy. I don't have time"

We all have 24/7/365, and yet some people seem never to have it enough, while some are achieving incredible things and never complain they're busy.

How is that possible?

The secret to having time is investing it ONLY in the things that are important to us. And saying "NO" to everything else. And alongside of that establishing simple habits that allow you to be highly effective every day.

This clarity and high-performance habits allowed me to start my coaching business part time and run it for a couple of years while working full time in a demanding corporate leadership role, completing and executive MBA and raising a young family. And I did that without the overwhlem, or sleepless nights or compromising self-care.

5. "I can't afford to do it now."

Like with time, how we invest our money and how resourceful we are with it tells a lot about what's truly important to us.

Running a business requires taking calculated risks. No business is successful without it. As leaders, we our responsibility is to find creative ways to figure things out.

As Marie Forleo says: "Everything is figureoutable," and I 100% believe that as well.

6. "I'm not good enough to be successful."

Followed by: "Who would ever buy from me?," "Who do I think I am, thinking that this could work?"

The imposter syndrome is familiar to many, even the most successful people. It's part of pushing yourself outside of your comfort zone, it's a prerequisite to growth.

Journaling and affirmations will help you with this thought as well. And there's another powerful thing I want to mention here. It's your associations. It's critical to surround yourself with people who will support you, believe in you, and help you succeed.

These people can be your fellow entrepreneurs, mentors, coaches, friends who already achieved what you want or at least are a few steps ahead of you. They will lift you when you're feeling down, teach you things that will help you get stronger, faster, and smarter and show you that anything is possible for those who want to go after it.

7. "I'm scared of failing."

This is a normal feeling that all humans experience. Our primary brain's job is to keep us safe. And failing is the opposite of it. However, the doom and gloom scenarios that your brain offers you anytime you think about action on your goals, is just a lot of "what if's" that may not materialize.

The trick is not to let it focus your whole energy on something that has as much probability to happen as your success. Don't get me wrong; it's good to be realistic and prepare for certain risks, have a plan B. That gives you a peace of mind. But once you have it, it's time to focus on the present and things you can control. It's time to focus on success and take actions towards making it happen. Because your current choices and actions are the ones shaping your future.

8. "I'm good where I am; I don't need to change anything."

If that's really the truth, then why deep down you feel like you can do more, make a bigger impact, create something bigger?

As humans we need to grow. That's why we have the inner voice in us pushing us forward.

I invite you to journal. Write abut how do you want you life and business to look like five years from now. Where would you be? What would you do; day after day, week after week?

Then write down what your life and business will look if you don't do anything. If you stay where you are. Read it out loud. Think about how does it make you feel?

Most people will not change if they are cozy and comfortable. So if you're there but have a nagging feeling you want more, then create discomfort that will motivate you to action. Picturing yourself in 5-10 years can be a great way to do that.

9. "It's so much work, where do I even start."

Building a dream business is a lot of work, especially in the beginning. But hey, you're creating your dream, isn't that exciting??Aren't you working hard right now, maybe doing something that is not even fulfilling?

Creating something you're passionate about is a journey that makes you a better human. It might be hard but it's fun and fulfilling.

Thin of the first smallest step you can take right now. Google something. Have a conversation with someone you look up to. E-mail an advisory center. Pick a small doable step and take it. Once you do that, take the next one. Step by step. That's how you conquer any mountain.

Clarity, patience, and being willing to feel uncomfortable when you grow is what will help you fast-track your business success. Establishing habits and routines that support your chosen path will make it easier to be consistent.

?Anything is possible when you set your intention to it. DREAM-PLAN-DO.
