Fast Food...

In recent years, there has been a growing spotlight on the health impacts of fast food, from the quality of ingredients and the levels of fat and sugar to the extent of food processing. But did you know there are even deeper issues with fast food—ones that might be just as concerning, even if you opt for options like Pret or Leon, believing they’re healthier choices?

So, what’s the real problem?

The issue lies in the sheer accessibility of food. We live in a world where we can decide we’re hungry and have food in our hands within minutes, whether from a takeaway outlet or a quick zap in the microwave (hello, chef Mike!). This rapid availability means food often reaches our stomachs faster than our digestive systems can properly handle.

In this series, we’ll delve deeper into why this is a concern, focusing on something called the cephalic response—or rather, the lack of it. Stay tuned for the next post, where I’ll explain what this means and why it matters.
