When it comes to getting off to a F.A.S.T. start, many business owners and leaders make the mistake of thinking that developing a great strategy is what is required.

Yes, a great strategy is important, but it is worthless if it isn’t executed on.

Strategy is imagined value, while execution is real value.

Most owners I speak with know this, but I often hear some of these when I tell them that execution is king.

“We have conflicting agendas that distract us”

“We don’t have clear goals and expectations across the organisation”

“Communication isn’t effective between the teams”

“The plans are too complicated”

“We don’t have any accountability in place”

“Everyone is too busy with other work”

Therefore people believe execution is hard.

So, I wanted to be able to bust the “Execution is hard” myth. We studied our clients and many other small businesses that execute flawlessly to find out the common traits with leaders and owners that executed F.A.S.T.

I am now giving away the results of this study and the process we have been using with our clients to help them year after year have their “best year ever”.

YOU AREN'T A TREE

Is it possible that everything (man) made, first existed in nature??

If the Conservation of Mass theory is true – you know, the one where “matter cannot be created or destroyed” (that’ll be compartmentalised deep in your ‘grade 9 science’ archive box area of your brain, alongside some love letters whereby you declare your undying love for some guy named Shay, or maybe that was just me)??

On at least one level, the answer to this question, of course, has to be yes.?

Further to that then, could that the sophistication of our current world, and the ‘mod cons’ which we enjoy every day, actually all be modeled off the rugged, untamed nature of that still remains raw and uncivilized on our earth??

Tree roots as foundations; tree trunks as frameworks; tree leaves as roof tiles.?

I’m not sure what kind of home you live in, but I can kinda see the fundamental similarities between a modest tree, and that which forms the basis of the most luxurious abodes.?

The thing with trees though is they probably don’t get in their own way when growing themselves.?They just… grow, by virtue of what they were placed on this earth to be.?They’re not there blowing their brains up or getting distracted in their execution – who wants a(nother) cuppa (for the sixth time today)??

But what dictates how FAST they grow??

Their conditions - their access to water (hydration), minerals in the soil (nourishment) and generally, how conducive their environment is to them flourishing… or not.?

And because you’re switched on and you too want to grow FAST, (we know this because you’ve planted yourself here as a member of the Inner Circle), you would know how important it is to be in an environment such as this, to cultivate the ideal conditions for such growth, as quickly as possible.?

Except we don’t just grow here.??

We evolve.??

And I wonder if that’s why we get to move… and trees don’t??

And unlike trees, we can change do something about our environment and conditions if they are not serving us a) where we are or b) to evolve into what we can become.?
