“Fashion is instant language.”

“Fashion is instant language.”

Although there isn’t necessarily anything profound in that quotation, it’s a bold articulation of how appearances DO count. We ‘read’ people in a matter of moments, which is often all we get in a business context.?

Whether it’s shabby interviewees or overly polished new associates - resist as we may - a judgement or assumption is rapidly made.?Of course, it’s really not too difficult to smarten up/down to suit the context but it’s the subtleties, the nuances of your look that speak before you may even gain an opportunity for introduction.?

If that sounds like a whole new layer of personal pressure, honestly, you don’t have to overthink it! Here’s my key take-out of Miuccia Prada’s quote: if you wear what you love, enjoy and appreciate - no matter how offbeat - others will get a clear vibe of who you are. It really is a way more honest, authentic expression of yourself than double-guessing what new acquaintances might expect you to be wearing and contriving an outfit, in which you ultimately feel...well, meh!

There is no stronger a statement of confidence than being completely at home in your own look!

Love this Claire ??. You nailed it—appearance speaks before we do, and like it or not, it’s part of the game. BUT, here’s the real deal—it’s?your?game. Your look should never feel like a costume designed to impress—it should feel like an exclamation mark on who you are. (Woman or Man!) Authentic style? That isn’t just about fashion. It’s owning your vibe, unapologetically. It’s showing the world who you are before you utter a single word. THAT’S the energy people remember. The confidence, the self-assurance, the unapologetic “this is me, take it or leave it.” Forget double-guessing someone else’s expectations. Trust me—confidence in your own skin (and clothes) will always outperform perfection in someone else’s. ?? Here’s the challenge for anyone still stuck in “whatever”: Ditch the generic. Find your vibe. Love it, own it, and show up like you were born for the spotlight. Because the strongest first impression? It’s being 100% you. No. Apologies. Needed. Go on, CreActivate it. ??

The mindset counts too - and is a dead giveaway! You’re not wearing ‘you’ as a suit of armour but as an open and welcoming invitation to others to know you as an individual ??
