Fascinating: Are You Paying Extra For Off-Brand Forklift Repair Training?

There is an abundance of articles highlighting the scarcity and immense value of skilled technicians in today's workforce. These pieces often emphasize the crucial role that competent technicians play in various industries, from manufacturing to information technology. The demand for well-trained, experienced technicians continues to grow, as their expertise becomes increasingly vital in our rapidly advancing technological landscape. Moreover, these articles frequently discuss the challenges companies face in recruiting and retaining top-tier technical talent, underscoring the competitive nature of the job market for skilled technicians.

Field technicians often face challenges when confronted with specific repairs or new types of equipment that require specialized skills. This knowledge gap can result in significant delays or potential errors during the repair process. The issue extends beyond brand-specific technicians, as even those working with off-brand equipment may struggle when faced with complex electronic repairs or when troubleshooting undefined problems that require a broader range of expertise. This situation highlights the critical need for ongoing training and skill development in the rapidly evolving field of technical maintenance and repair.

Many dealerships representing major brands such as Toyota , Mitsubishi, and Hyster/Yale invest hundreds of hours in training to keep their technicians up to speed on ever-evolving technologies. Continuous training, especially for rapidly changing technology, is essential but often challenging to maintain. Off-brand technicians called in to troubleshoot and repair are at a disadvantage. While they might be uneasy about it, they would likely appreciate the opportunity to learn on the job if you pay them for the extra time as they work through the problem.
