Farming Pathways for Maximising Potential

AC Foods (Aus) is celebrating its amazing trainees. We are excited for these young people who have decided to begin their career with AC Foods (Aus) in agriculture.

Meet Brandon Mison, 21.

Brandon joined the team at Mowbray Farm only four months ago, but already he feels comfortable and confident on the job.

Brandon and his family live on a nearby property and found out about opportunities at the citrus farm by word of mouth.

“A neighbour told me that Mowbray (Farm) were looking for some workers. So I applied thinking I would be picking fruit.

“Since joining the team, I have been offered a two-year traineeship which I am really excited about,” Brandon said.

As part of his traineeship, Brandon will also undertake a Certificate III in Horticulture along with other short courses to see him gain his forklift licence, chemical certificate and how to operate a side by side.

“By the time I complete my traineeship I will have the skills and qualifications to walk into any farming opportunity,” Brandon said.

Currently, Brandon is working across all areas of the farm but says he enjoys tractor driving, irrigation, mixing fertiliser and supervising contractors.

“It is a great team here. We all work well together. I feel comfortable to ask any questions and I am always learning as I go. There’s some great mentors for trainees here, who I really look up to,” Brandon said.

Brandon added there was so many opportunities and pathways to further his career following his traineeship.

“I would love to be in a position where I can mentor and help others who are new to farming,” Brandon said.
