Farmers in Mewat need Government Support to Sustain their Livelihoods ...

Mewat or Nuh is the most backward district of Haryana. Successive Governments in Haryana have neglected to bring any development in this region.

A Typical Mewati is poor, Illiterate & is facing the challenge of a decent day to day survival.

REALITY CHECK ...

1. Most of the families cannot afford healthy & hygienic food.
2. Farmers are poor with very little land holdings.
3. They do not have access to good seeds, running tap water & farming techniques.
4. They lack knowledge on multi cropping & other modern farming practices.
5. They prefer to grow traditional crops like wheat, mustard, Tomatoes & a few vegetables.
6. They lack knowledge & facilities for food processing & cold storages.
7. There is minimal technology available & hardly any subsidies or hand holding from the Haryana Govt.
8. Floriculture, Fruits farming, Herbs farming is still not being done in this area.
9. There is no regular training available for farmers in Mewat.Ground water level is at a precarious state today due to illegal borewells which is a norm in this area.
10. Farmers are unaware of soil testing, Soil enriching practices, Mulching & organic farming.

SUGGESTED SOLUTIONS ... ACTION REQUIRED ASAP BY HARYANA GOVT.

1. Proper schools, free education & teachers needed as per the Delhi model.
2. Tap water supply, schemes for irrigation, technology & subsidy for farmers.
3. Solar power special scheme with a subsidy for farmers.
4. Jobs availability for youth of Mewat in IMT, Sohna & other Govt. agencies.
5. Metro & Rail connection of Nuh with Gurgaon & Alwar.
6. Smart city status for Nuh, Roads, Parks, Cycling tracks & Pedestrian lanes on roads.
7. Food processing unit at IMT, Sohna catering to tomatoes, Amla, Mustard, Vegetables & other fruits.
8. Nuh Development plan 2031 to be preponed by 5 years & implementation should begin immediately by the next Haryana Govt.
9. Modern bus service between Nuh & Gurgaon.
10. A Government controlled Market for produce of farmers in Nuh.
11. Decent Cinema halls, A Mall, Entertainment & Community convergence centres including Libraries for residents in Mewat.

MEWAT IS PART OF HARYANA & THESE POOR PEOPLE NEED HELP & SUPPORT BY THE GOVERNMENT, NGOs & PASSIONATE INDIANS TO CHANGE THEIR FATE WHICH SEEMS TO BE SEALED TODAY.
