FARMERS, THEIR FAMILIES AND THEIR BUSINESSES ARE HURTING. REALLY HURTING!

As some of you may know we’ve been campaigning to raise funds and supplies for the farmers who are doing it tough as a result of the current drought situation. You can see from the map how widespread the drought is outside of the Sydney metropolitan area. I don’t believe most people know how much of the region is so badly affected by this so please take a moment to reflect on the size of the problem.

Rather than just donate cash to a charity we wanted to take action directly, so we took the weekend to fill two cars and drive north of Tamworth to deliver food, toiletries and toys directly to 20 farm families. The lovely ladies of the CWA helped us enormously in working out who to make contact with, and our friends & neighbours did a great job in donating supplies and cash to help the cause. A big THANK YOU to everyone who donated.

It’s clear some families are doing better than others. Of the 20 families we met you could see that everyone is struggling, but four or five of them are REALLY struggling. The emotional toll is written all over their faces, and faces of their children, and unfortunately as people in the cities go about their daily lives I don’t believe there is an understanding of how difficult the situation is.

So, I implore you. Don’t wait to donate to a fundraiser once you come across their website or social media post.

For the sake of the farmers, their children, and their businesses which produce the food we eat.
