Talking about the ongoing peasant movement in our country is a matter of great risk because a lot of intelligent people are not talking. Because now on social media, AAP or anti-government is told very easily. But farming is a subject that is directly related to every citizen. In such a situation, every such person needs to rise above the political commitment on this issue.
The Government of India has implemented three laws for doubling the income of farmers from September 2020, including the Farmers 'Production Trade and Commerce (Promotion and Facilitation) Act, Price Assurance and Farmers' (Empowerment and Protection) Agreement Act, and Essential Commodities (Amendment) Act
Farmers of Punjab, Haryana, and Western Uttar Pradesh are opposing these laws prominently. Mainly being operated by more than 40 farmer organizations from September 2020 through All India Sangharsh Samiti.
It is the most organized, hi-tech, and longest yet peacefully-run movement in the history of the peasant movement of India.
This movement is being fought on the borders of Delhi in the real world and through the internet in the virtual world of social media, print media, and mobiles. This is just a glimpse of the nature of future political and other movements.
Initially, it was a fight for pure farmers and their demands were also to legislate the minimum support price, to implement the report of the Swaminathan Committee.
But as the matter with the government became a big back-to-back movement, the opposition political party versus the government, and the number of demands reduced to only one that the government first repeal all three laws. Now this farmer's fight has become less and more political. However, this ab is also being fought in the name of farmers.
Now, this battle is also being fought in the Supreme Court. The Supreme Court has formed a committee of four members to resolve the matter. Out of which one member has resigned and the farmer's organizations have decided not to talk to the committee.
Now the question is whether the peasant movement is right? Yes, the peasant movement is completely correct because agriculture has become a deficit work due to 70 years of agricultural policies of the government. The farmer is forced to leave farming and do other things.
So is the demand for farmer organizations wrong. Yes, new laws will definitely bring far-reaching changes in agriculture and selling produce and this has been the demand of all the old people. Therefore, the demand for elimination of these is not political interest but only political stubbornness
Farmers' organizations should take advantage of this opportunity and discuss all the policy issues that require change. Government policy cannot be expected as much as these policy issues are understood by the committee set up by the Supreme Court.
The impact of the martyrdom of more than 33 agitational farmers on the executive, judiciary, and media could not commit suicide by millions of farmers.
Giving agriculture industry status, lowering the GST rate on agricultural inputs, creating a sustainable policy for export and import of agricultural produce, giving grants to increase agricultural exports, sending subsidies directly to the farmer's account, on agricultural research in Texas Decision should be made after discussing many such topics like increasing the rebate and budget, guaranteeing a minimum income to farmers, etc.
In order to take advantage of the power of change of the government, farmer organizations should not miss the opportunity to come forward and surround Delhi. Perhaps such an opportunity does not come very soon.
