Farm Radio named a 2024 Top 10 International Impact Charity
Farm Radio International - Radios Rurales Internationales
Working with 1,000+ radio partners in 41 African countries, we reach & serve tens of millions of rural Africans.
Farm Radio International is delighted to once again be named a Top 10 International Impact Charity by Charity Intelligence, Canada’s “charity watchdog.” We have also been included on Charity Intelligence’s list of the top 100 charities in Canada for 2024.
This recognition is only possible thanks to the support and trust of our donors, funders and partners. Together, we are inspiring real change in rural African communities.
A Top 10 International Impact Charity
What does it mean to be a Top 10 International Impact Charity? It’s all about impact — the measurable impact in the lives of individuals and communities for each dollar donated.
As Charity Intelligence puts it, a Top 10 Impact rating looks at one thing only: “for every dollar you donate, what’s the measurable return to clients and society?”
At Farm Radio, we’re proud to be recognized for the impact that we are creating in rural communities in tandem with our partners, all using the reach of radio. Whether it’s educating farmers on agricultural practices to withstand drought or starting conversations about the importance of girls’ education, interactive radio programs can have a measurable impact on knowledge, practices and quality of life in rural communities.
In 2023-24, the radio programs broadcast through our projects had an estimated 45 million listeners. Of those listeners, 22 million applied what they learned to improve their farming, health or nutrition practices.

A Top 100 Rated Charity
In addition to being named a Top 10 International Impact Charity, Farm Radio was included on Charity Intelligence’s list of the Top 100 Rated Charities for 2024 and maintains its rating as a five-star charity.
It is an honour to be included on this list of charities doing such good work at home and abroad.
Charity Intelligence’s star ratings are based on five factors: donor reporting, financial transparency, funding need, cents to the cause and demonstrated impact.
“Our staff, volunteers and partners are incredibly committed to our work using interactive radio to advance communication justice and achieve real results in rural African communities. We see the impact of our efforts day in and day out. Yet it’s affirming to have this impact recognized by independent experts at Charity Intelligence and to be named one of the most impactful international charities in Canada,” said Kevin Perkins, Farm Radio’s executive director.
Thank you to all of the generous individuals, foundations and institutions for their trust in us and for making this work possible. We promise to use your gifts efficiently, where they are most needed, and to report back regularly to remain accountable.
In working together, we can help millions of people in sub-Saharan Africa access the information they need to improve their lives.
If you are not yet a donor, please consider making a gift this holiday season — you can be confident it will have a remarkable impact. We thank you for your support.
