Farewell. Until our paths cross again.
To my fellow Expedians past and present:
The last ~8 years at Expedia Group have been a wild ride. The relationships I have gained over the years with you all, I treasure and cherish, you have made this wild ride worth it.
I'll admit, I didn't do much due diligence on Expedia Inc (as it was called then), when I joined in 2014 as a humble Security Engineer II, but I stayed on for the ride because I believed I was a part of something greater, that we were all a part of to go solve the challenges in our industry and company.??
I got some things right, I got some things wrong, and I learned so much that I couldn’t have imagined before I joined. I wouldn’t have believed you, if you told me I’d have the privilege of being thrown into leading security & compliance due diligence and integrations on $6bn+ of M&A deals to build and grow the company, or that I’d work around the clock, through the nights and weekends to protect the company and our customers from hackers. That I would be trying my darnedest to push the envelope of our platform strategy and how we envision, frame, see, reimagine ourselves as the company to change travel forever, inspired by you all who have made staying on this long a no-brainer.?
Some think we've been transforming just since prior to the pandemic, but you all know we’ve been transforming and reimagining since the beginning. I hope that transformative energy, curiosity, and insatiable need to make a positive impact in you never dwindles and that you find what gives you that energy whether it’s here or elsewhere.?
While my journey at Expedia is ending, for those of you still on the ride, the work you’re doing to transform the company and the industry is not over. If your conviction on that direction is absolutely certain, do not waver in its pursuit, no slide decks, no financial and commercial models in excel, no lines of code alone will take the company there. It is all of you, amazing and wonderful people who will be the ones to take it over the line, full stop. I'm looking forward to the HBS cases that will be written about what we did here, what you all are continuing to do, to transform the company!
I will be staying local in Seattle and trying to get out and travel more with my family to reconnect with our friends and family that we've sorely missed.

This farewell ends one chapter in my life and career, but it's not goodbye. I take great comfort that as I leave the campus for the last time, that I have many friends who I look forward to seeing outside the four walls of the company.
I have gained so much from all of you in wisdom, advice, honest feedback, hard truths, and bad jokes. I hope I shared as much in return in our work together. As many of you have shared over the past week, Onwards!
Sincerely,
Your immediate-past-headstrong-heavy-coffee-drinker
