Farewell Pandora
‘A spokesperson today confirmed to AdNews: “After analysis and consideration of external factors, we have decided to discontinue our operations in Australia and New Zealand and will shut down the service on July 31, 2017’. (news.com.au)
And yet again, ‘down under’ loses the power of choice, and a timely reminder that ‘rented’ platforms can and will, come and go.
Marketers, be sure to collect email addresses rather than chasing vanity ‘likes’ or ‘follows’ which are pleasing but without exception, ephemeral.
Having built up an eclectic and wonderful collection of music stations on Pandora, I am not a happy Jan (Aussie reference and one of my favourite Australian 'ads' ever).
As 'Queen' would have announced 'another one bites the dust' (smarter marketing or possibly not given Spotify's losses) may have helped.
I for one, would have happily subscribed given the option of retaining or losing the platform locally.
Good bye Pandora, I am sad to see you go.

7 年I believe pandora business streaming was the focus in aust/nz. It appears not enough focus, resources or carefactor. From a personal streaming perspective how hard can it be to deploy local servers along with a small subscription fee? Perhaps this space is just too crowded?
