???? Farewell, Kensington Arts! ????

As my time as the Creative Development Coordinator comes to a close, I can't help but reflect on the whirlwind of emotions that this journey has brought. It's a bittersweet farewell, but rest assured, I won't bid adieu without expressing my deepest gratitude and sharing the incredible memories we've made.

First and foremost, I want to extend a HUGE thank you to "the boss" Jane Corkill and the Arts team, as well as the fabulous KA and SoundCheck crew. Your unwavering support, dedication, and creativity have been the heart and soul of this place. Without you, none of the amazing achievements we've accomplished would have been possible.

Let's take a moment to reminisce, shall we? One of the proudest highlights of my time here was assembling teams of exceptionally talented young actors to grace renowned stages. From the prestigious York Theatre Royal to London's iconic National Theatre , our stars dazzled, captivating audiences both near and far.

But that's not where our journey ended! We fearlessly delved into the world of exhibitions, co-curating a groundbreaking showcase at the Manx Museum with the talented Anthea Young , celebrating the vibrant tapestry of LGBT History. We made a statement, embracing diversity and challenging norms. And who could forget the buzz we created with the island's first-ever Queer Artisan Market?

And let's not overlook the exhilarating moment when we clinched the title of 'Diversity Champion' at the Media Isle of Man Awards For Excellence. It was an absolute honor to accept this prestigious award alongside the incredible Jenni Smith, on behalf of our talented and diverse team. Together, we proved that art knows no boundaries, and inclusivity is the key to unlocking its true potential.

We made waves everywhere—on the radio waves and in the newspapers—shouting about our vibrant activities schedule. Our passion and enthusiasm echoed through the airwaves, reaching every corner of the island. A special thank you to Howard Caine , Meg Walker, Sayeh Cash, Sam Turton , Jackie Darbyshire , Paul Moulton and Neil Callin for enduring all those interviews without getting tired of me!

Let's not forget the launch of our professional Theatre in Education company. We visited every high school on the island, tackling the critical issue of child criminal exploitation with an extraordinary play by Chlo? Shimmin . We used our creative powers to educate, empower, and inspire, leaving an indelible mark on countless young minds.

But above all else, my absolute favorite part of this incredible journey has been witnessing the growth and blossoming of young people as they discovered and nurtured their creative passions. Supporting them, guiding them, and seeing the sparkle in their eyes as they discovered their artistic potential—it's been an honor beyond measure.

So, as I bid farewell to my time at Kensington, I depart with a heart full of gratitude and an abundance of cherished memories that will forever remain with me. To my amazing team, thank you for being a part of this remarkable chapter in my life and allowing me to be a part of yours. Together, we've created something truly extraordinary—a haven of art, diversity, and boundless creativity.

Remember, the show must go on, and I have no doubt that Kensington Arts will continue to flourish, bringing joy to countless lives. So let's raise a glass, share a smile, and celebrate the beautiful tapestry of art that we've woven together.

With love, laughter, and a heart filled with gratitude,

P Shim
