Fare Bella Figura - Make A Good Impression, Be A Sharp Dressed Man, Episode #106 (Video here:https://bit.ly/3NMailu )

In business today, people judge us immediately based on how we are dressed, before we even get to say one word. Unfair? Yep! I run my own soft skills corporate training business in Tokyo. Every day I carefully choose my clothes to determine that so important first impression. How do you handle it?

This day I had a meeting with our accountant to go through this last year's results. I had lunch at the Tokyo American Club in Azabudai to see if I could meet up with any clients and that is what happened. That evening an old friend Jim Moynihan from Shinsei Bank days and his wife Hiroko, known to many here in Tokyo, were in town visiting from the US and all of their friends assembled at the infamous Hobgoblin Pub in Roppongi to catch up with them. I was drinking pints of Hoergaarden beer which I haven't done in years. I wanted to look successful and sharp amongst the sparkling crew.

I chose my custom dark grey, single breasted suit, fabric from Marling & Evans 1782, with wide subtle blue pinstripes, notch lapels, side vents, double cuffs and over the calf black socks. Blue shirt from Ganton with French Cuffs, horn collar stays from Kirby Allison, blue and white cufflinks from Barneys New York to match the tie. Basket weave pattern blue and white tie from Kirby Allison, blue and white Etro pocket square.

The silver corporate badge from Dale Carnegie, the pen was my black and gold Mont Blanc, the business card holder from Lanvin, the watch my vintage 24mm gold Cartier Tank Francaise, with a black ostrich leather strap.

The high shine shoes were black TLB Majorca Artista series Oxfords with a Goya last, punched toe made in boxcalf leather using French calf from the D'Annonay tannery.

Thia shot was taken in the Mochizuki room in our Akasaka HQ.
