I run my own soft skills training franchise business in Tokyo and many years ago, I decided to dress for success. Each day I consult my schedule and that day's work content drives my sartorial choices. Before I head out the door every day, I check myself in the mirror and ask, "Do I look like one of the most professional people in my industry".

This day I had some internal meetings and was teaching online for a multinational company's APAC executives on the subject of Speaking With Impact.

I wanted to dress up for the online class and look highly professional and credible as an expert instructor. It is supposed to be autumn here, but the days are still quite warm, so I chose my grey Brioni single breasted, notch lapel, three roll on two (three buttons with the top button hidden under the lapel), summer suit in wool and silk. It has an incredible hand when you touch it, because of the silky touch. There is a light blue window pane throughout the suit, it has a Barchetta suit breast pocket (Barchtetta means "small boat" in Italian and the pocket is shaped like the prow of a boat rising to the left), side vents, pocket flaps, double cuffs, over the calf grey socks.

The strong blue and white Bengal stripe shirt is custom in a Winchester style with a white collar, with metal collar stays, white French cuffs, blue and silver cufflinks to match the shirt. Such a strong stripe makes it difficult to pair with a tie, so I went for my navy Chanel tie with a simple pattern to contrast with the stripe. The pocket square was light blue to not compete with the stripe, but to also contast with the suit.

The silver corporate badge was from Dale Carnegie, the pen my black and gold Mont Blanc, the business card holder from Lanvin. The watch was my vintage 36mm Gucci with a very simple black dial, and the black strap in crocodile leather.

The high shine shoes were dark brown Carmina Majorca toe cap Oxfords with a Swan's Neck design, using a Rain last, vegano calf leather and featuring JR Redenbach soles.
