I run my own soft skills training franchise business in Tokyo and many years ago, I decided to dress for success. Each day I consult my schedule and that day's work content drives my sartorial choices. Before I head out the door every day, I check myself in the mirror and ask, "Do I look like one of the most professional people in my industry".

This day I attended a fascinating breakfast talk by Irina Menshikova President of Amway Japan on "Leading Across Cultures" for the American Chamber of Commerce, moderated by Deborah Hayden, President of FSG Global, held in the AmCham board room in the CIC in the Toranomon Hills Office Tower. Following that I had an interview with Bela Schweiger, who previously was the Japan President for Haagen Dazs, for my Japan's Top Business Interviews podcast. It was a great talk and very insightful.

I wanted to look sharp and polished for both events and so chose my custom navy bead stripe, single breasted suit with Super 140 Dolce Vita fabric from Carlo Barbera, side vents, notch lapels, pocket flaps and double cuffs ,with over the calf navy socks. It was super hot, so I dispensed with a tie and went with my white custom Cooper Collar shirt with French Cuffs, a Versace medusa design set of cufflinks, pocket square from the Amalfi series by Massimo Pirrone in a reverse puff.

The silver corporate badge was from Dale Carnegie, the pen my black and gold Mont Blanc, the business card holder from Lanvin, the watch my reliable rectangular 30mm Longines S30 EFCO with a black dial, stainless steel case and bracelet.

The high shine black shoes were Pollini Derbys with wingtip brogueing and a Ram's Head design on the medallion.

This shot is taken outside my office in Akasaka.
