As Far as We Know

As far as We know Earth is a one in a trillion longshot of existing. We sit at just the right distance for our Sun and our Moon is in just the right place to encourage oceanic activity. Our planet is three quarters water. I choose to believe that some Divine intervention must have been involved.

Add to that the evolution of a space fairing being that is quickly gaining almost godlike control of things on a molecular level and I think, and I hope, you would agree that We hit the cosmic jackpot! Now We find ourselves facing the consequences and results of that hunger for progress. Modern Humans have been around for several hundred thousand years yet it's only in the last twelve to twenty thousand years that we've lived in major city centers.

The blessing and curse of this progress was the establishment of a hierarchal and significantly patriarchal power structure required for rapid progress, a mixed blessing at best. The curse made manifest is the lingering paradigm of and and addiction to an unsustainable economic and governance system. We Humans on Planet Earth are expending precious resources to murder each other.

We have the technology to adapt to and even ameliorate the effects of climate change, it's hampered in it's progress, by the fact that We are making species survival decisions based on economic factors. I believe in Humanity, especially young Humans who are less attached to the way things have been.

We have a choice of holding on to a crumbling structure that no longer serves us because it is comfortable or addressing resource allocation inequality and move into the future that honors the blessing of this abundant planet?
