Fantasy land

The clock strikes 12
The midnight hour
A child can't sleep and wants to explore
A night in this castle he can't ignore
Stepping out -the old wooden door
Down the twisting stairwell
Creeping- whispering
Please don't tell
Reaching the hallway below
Still within his night clothes
Shhh - no one knows...
Every creak he holds his breath
Pausing before- he takes another step
Not wanting to wake the other guests
Especially his parents
They won't be impressed
They always think -they know what's best!
The grandfather clock standing tall
It's pendulum swinging to and fro
The sound of the ticks and tocks
Blending in -it never stops
It's mystic chimes -signal the fading of the veil
A portal uniting distant lands
Now on full display
Behind a magical door with it's ornate key
Curiosity leads the way
The child full of wonder really wants to see
Rubbing his eyes frantically
No fear - he approaches
Turning and twisting away
With a click of the lock
And a burst of light
Determination wins his plight
The door swings open on this night
The dimension turns to day
Intuition pulls him through
His heart leading the way
A realm of fantasy now
Exploration and adventure call
His spirit invited to play
A place where wishes are made
Floating high on clouds
Ever-moving scenes
Setting secrets free
Time stands still within this land
Imagination and wonders
Lovingly created by artisans
Further attractions to see
Pure ecstasy
Fantasy land
A place of magic -to just be
Enjoying the love of the surreal
Safe for hearts and minds to dream
And innocent souls to feel x
