??? From Stage to Pixels: Unleashing the 'Forkbeard Fantasy Theatre' Magic through Photogrammetry! ?????

Here’s a digital look into the mesmerising 'Forkbeard Fantasy Theatre Museum, immortalised in pixels through the wonder of photogrammetry for the Bristol University Theatre Archive. ????

Capturing Whimsy and Wonders ??

Imagine a world ignited with whimsy and more than just a dash of eccentricity. That's the 'Forkbeard Fantasy Theatre', a haven of curious artefacts and fantastical tales that make reality seem a tad more magical. As a freelancer diving into this photogrammetry challenge, I had the honour of recreating this kaleidoscopic wonderland in glorious 3D.?? It was a complicated space! High contrast lighting, strong internal and natural light and very…very dark corners. Everything moves and most of it on its own via motion sensors so the first job was finding all the control switches to turn everything off, a harder task than it sounds! Operational life size puppets… on strings, reflective surfaces, feathers, very tight spaces and limited time all added to the fun. I was shooting the space moving very slowly, often holding my breath as every movement seemed to create a breeze. It made me really appreciate scanning bricks and stuff that doesn’t move!

Snap and Stitch ??

My toolkit? A camera, tripod and lots of enthusiasm. Photogrammetry turns ordinary images into extraordinary digital tapestries. Clicking, capturing, and then weaving these images together –? the result? A virtual portal that transports you into the heart of 'Forkbeard Fantasy Theatre', where every creaky floorboard and wild costume has a story and probably raises a question or two. ???
