Fantastic Pitch Day for INWED with Ashton Park School students

We were thrilled to host a group of enthusiastic Year 10 students from Ashton Park School at Crux HQ this week, as part of our ongoing Crux Future Focus Challenge. This initiative aims to provide young individuals with a unique opportunity to develop their technical skills and gain industry insights, all while fostering their passion for innovation.

The day kicked off with an inspiring talk by James West, company Co-Founder. He shared his remarkable journey from engineer to entrepreneur, delving into his inspiration for establishing a successful technical consultancy. This session set the tone for the students to ignite their curiosity and ambition.

Next, Mechanical Engineer Ben Wade took to the stage, sharing valuable knowledge on presentation skills, pitching techniques, and captivating an audience. This equipped the students with crucial communication tools to effectively convey their ideas and capture attention. The students were then given an opportunity to hone their pitches, ensuring they had a solid proof of concept that considered both environmental impact and economic viability.

This was followed by an immersive tour of our state-of-the-art lab and workshop, where students could engage in stimulating conversations with our engineers and designers to learn more about the technology and tools used for product development, drawing parallels with their current science and design learning at school. We invited specialists across our different design capabilities to share invaluable insights on the wide range of careers available in science, technology, engineering, and mathematics.?

The students then presented their final pitches to a panel of judges, who were ready to provide constructive feedback. Our specialists were pleased to see some experimentation with tools such as Tinker CAD to develop technical abilities and visualise a concept. The level of teamwork, attention to detail, and innovative thinking displayed by the students left us immensely impressed, and their commitment and hard work over the two challenge days has been truly commendable.

By exposing them to a diverse range of specialties and fostering their passion for innovation, we hope to empower young women with the confidence and knowledge to pursue their interests in any field they choose.

We extend our heartfelt appreciation to the students, teachers, and everyone at Crux HQ involved in making this day a resounding success. Together, let's continue nurturing the next generation of talented individuals and shaping a future where women can thrive in all areas of interest!
