Recap - DATA LEADERS SUMMIT

Susan made it to the DTX 360 Data Leaders Summit for a great day of fantastic discussions. She enjoyed leading a roundtable hosted by Qlik and Adam Mayer, then moderated a superb panel with Eszter Morvay and Chris Darriet-Jones.

There is MUCH to talk about, so look out for some polls in the coming days and weeks!

A key takeaway was that we need to get the basics right before we start with tech implementations, and that starts with people...

Special thanks to Kyle Winterbottom and Catherine King.

You may have been told by your suppliers or a potential supplier that they’re using AI or machine learning and this is what they’ll be using to classify your important data, and you may even have heard phrases like “neural networks”, “algorithms” and that kind of thing thrown around.

In this video, Susan Walsh The Classification Guru is demystifying the use of AI and machine learning in data classification.

"When I called this out, the poster responded that they would create a female list. This just made things worse. And many women on the post pushed back on this. As women – as people – we want to be recognised for our efforts on an even playing field, we don’t want our own lists. Why couldn’t there have been a Top 20 list? We don’t have to push others out the way, we can make room for everyone."

If you think your new tool will solve your data problems, we hate to say it, but all you're doing is masking the problem.

What you're actually doing is adding a tool or system onto unstable foundations, which will ultimately start to crumble.

Before embarking on any new projects, please consider cleaning and investing in your data BEFORE you build your tech stack, or it might be too late afterwards...
