Fantasic leaders and where to find them

In J. K Rowling's wizarding tale of fantastic beasts, our protagonist hides these magical creatures away from ordinary eyes. These are extraordinary creatures that evade the mundane and ordinary. In our muggle world, finding a fantastic leader can be equally as difficult. Even if you possess magical powers finding one may be harder than defeating the Dark Lord himself. The promise of extraordinary leadership excites us, as we imagine potential futures of hope, innovation and regeneration. Sadly many rising leaders fail to live up to our expectations to lead new ways of living and working, our string of failed Prime Ministers is testament to that sense of disappointment.
When you ask yourself, or your colleagues about a leader you may have worked with who inspired you to be someone more than you are, blank, empty faces are usually the unwanted but actual response. A lucky few tell tales of these beautiful souls who put their faith in them, saw the early embers of potential they themselves were unaware of and provided opportunities to try on boots and clothes we would not normally get the chance to wear and go to places we would not usually get the chance to visit. These trans-formative experiences held dear to memory are the acorns that turn a nervous, unsure wobbly twenty-something into the spreading oak that passes on this most valuable gift forward over the lifespan of a career.
I'm not going to give you a list of where these fantastic leaders might be, Dorothy in the Wizard of Oz had the power to go home all the time, but needed to learn it for herself, this is true of great leadership. You are have already found where fantastic leaders are, they are in all of us, you just need to want it hard enough. As for all great things worth having, you must be willing to put in the blood, sweat, tears and hard work to get there. When you make a conscious decision to do this, that is when fantastic and magical things happen, its called leadership and when you nurture, develop it and practice it, people and the world light up. Now its your turn to shine.
