Fannie Mae to exit downtown D.C. lease early

Fannie Mae will exit its Midtown Center headquarters five years early, exercising an out clause in its lease and dealing another devastating blow to downtown D.C.?
Carr Properties , Midtown Center's owner, said Tuesday that Fannie Mae notified the company of its decision to exercise its early-out clause effective May 2029. Carr has put Fannie Mae's 720,000 square feet back on the market, with most of the available space coming online in June 2029, per a listing on CoStar.
