This week, lot of news on social networks, and end of the year is coming so we are all either overloaded or already on holidays. So no "Pro Tips" this week, but with all these news and updates on social medias, we have plenty to keep us busy, now I let you discover all that!

2024 will a new type of content (the FGC), the debut of Threads in Europe and a new Instagram concept “the Finsta”.

• Threads in Europe: you can't have missed it, Thread has been launched in Europe (took a long time...), now we'll see if it will really take off, for the moment it's very quiet, join me there if you are curious too ??

• Snapchat+ has added generative AI features for paying users, including its Dreams feature which now allows you to create AI portraits featuring you and your friends

• Instagram now suggests Stranger Stories in the feed (not sure if that's a good idea...)
• Generated AI images in DMs: soon you will be able to generate and send images via artificial intelligence directly in DMs
• We will also be able to create backgrounds generated by AI to publish in Stories
• Launch of new security tools for creators to help reduce spam (follow and tag)
• “Instagram Finstas” could be transform into a new feature called “Flipside”: a space or feed that would be intended only for close friends. “Finsta”: (short for “fake Instagram”) refers to a fake secondary account created by a user in order to post images and interact with other accounts in a more private way, usually reserved for close friends
• Short Video Note: Instagram now allows you to share 2-second video notes

• WhatsApp is rolling out a bunch of updates: AI will finally be integrated into the app, the top 3 new features:

#1 Generate stickers with AI

#2 Image generation by AI

#3 The Meta assistant AI: ability to have conversations (chat) with the Meta assistant integrated into messaging

• Pin message: you can now pin messages in individual or group discussions, like on Telegram

• Rayban smart glasses + AI: Mark Zuckerberg shared a Reel revealing AI features on Ray-Ban glasses, they will be able to understand what you see thanks to the integrated camera, describe an object and even make suggestions for outfits, and we should even be able to direct them by voice

• Free subscription: Eligible YouTube creators will be able to offer up to 10 free subscriptions per month to their subscribers
• Advertising in Shorts: The platform will integrate ads between Shorts (remuneration for creators?), and will also reduce the number of ads via the TV app but to display longer ads instead

• TikTok the new source of information: 32% of 18 to 29 year olds use TikTok as their primary source of information
• “ByteDance AI Secret”: The company is apparently secretly using OpenAI technology to create a direct competitor to chatGPT, codenamed “Project Seed”
• New feature called “Sub-only videos” which allows you to share videos only with your subscribers
• TikTok's first-ever "In The Mix" live concert sold 17,000 tickets and was watched by over 9 million people on TikTok Live

• Facebook “relaunches” video revenue sharing: Meta Platforms is once again changing its revenue sharing model for video ads hoping to attract creators. Previously, creators received 55% of ad revenue on certain videos, the new model will pay creators based on the performance of their videos

• Elon Musk announced that X will soon include video in "Spaces"

• No BeReal is not dead: The app has just added “private groups” and Live Photo type features

BONUS 1: After the UGC, welcome the FGC

UGC (User Generated Content) has been booming this year. In 2024, prepare for the arrival of FGC (Fan Generated Content). In addition to working with UGC creators and nano influencers to help stimulate conversations, brands will turn to fans and fan groups to create even more niche content.

BONUS 2: MrBeast Analytics

Launch of “ViewStats” a brand new platform for YouTube creators, co-founded by MrBeast. One of the key features of the platform is a page dedicated to "A/B testing" on video thumbnails: creators can identify the best performing thumbnails, track possible title changes, consult the rankings of the best videos by channel and analyze the distribution of views between long and short content. New tools will also be added soon to help with ideation and thumbnail design, some of these features will resemble internal tools used by the MrBeast team. And it's free!
