Read all about it! The stories shaping sports, media and fan engagement today
From streaming apps to social media, eSports to the metaverse (and everything in between), the competition for fan attention has never been more fierce. We round up some of the news that grabbed our attention this month.
The BBC drew its highest peak audience for the Wimbledon men’s singles tennis final since 2016. Digital fan engagement can be a highly effective way to encourage fans to tune in live, so we created a range of new tennis-themed Experiences to illustrate how compelling fan engagement Experiences can help to build stronger connections with fans.
This marks the MLBs first foray into the Metaverse, in an aim to expand the fan experience and create more engagement opportunities.
The Matildas’ first match against Ireland became the most-watched women’s team sports match in Australian history. And we’re certain this won’t be the only record set during this tournament. We’re seeing women’s sport undergo a huge period of growth and we're proud to work with several sports organisations to bring gamified fan Experiences to a range of women's sports.
Start synchronising interactivity and live video, with Stream Sync
We are all familiar with significant and variable streaming latencies that can spoil the sport viewing? experience.
There are low latency streaming options out there, but with the exception of WebRTC streaming (expensive), most devices will have an individual and dynamic level of latency.?
If you want to add interactive content over or alongside the stream, the issue is compounded.?
As interactive moments are triggered very quickly from sports feeds, a greater level of delay in the video stream can mean that key game events are revealed before they’ve been seen by fans. Whether it’s a goal or a red card, some moments demand to be seen, making it essential that commentary, prediction reveals or voting moments are not triggered ahead of their visual appearance.?
Building on our Audio Sync feature for second screen use cases, we created Stream Sync - a new way to synchronise data and interactivity with live streaming video.
