The Famous Cabot Trail
Hilda Murphy-Phillips
The world is our doorstep and willing to share our view will make the difference.
The Cabot Trail wishes to inform all Cape Breton residents and those who will be visiting, we are now offering a jangling new experience. One you’ve never had the opportunity to experience before. It will be our “Wild Ride”. You will turn from Highway 105 at Exit 7, otherwise known as the Big Red Barn. Prepare for takeoff. Put your helmets on, tighten your bra straps and your seat belt, you are in for a journey and an adventure. As you descend Hunters Mountain you will notice a few bumps, offering you the beginning of this joyful ride. And it begins......
You will swerve in your vehicle, like you never have before. You will be up and down, through a menagerie of, not wild animals but pot holes. This will be you roller coaster ride for the day. You will swerve right and left, and try to do so at the same time. You will go into holes that will make you wonder if the this vehicle you are driving will make it to the end. If you dare drink your coffee, we want to know. We want your story. If you have a tendency for motion sickness, please ensure you have taken your Gravol before takeoff.
Please join us on the famous Cabot Trail, via Middle River and see what great experiences we have the ability to enjoy on a daily basis. There is scenery. I ask you not to gander too long at the scenery as you must not, I repeat MUST NOT, take your eyes off the road or you will have to call for roadside assistance for fear of the hole you’ve just plunged into.
I say to you, this is not an April Fool’s Joke, this is our reality. Have a great day. Spring is on the way.
From a loyal Cabot Trail driver, on a daily basis,
PS - Sorry I can't upload the photos of the signage that the locals were kind enough to post.
Hilda ,? I addressed the seriousness of the road conditions last year via email . You are correct . It’s a travesty to have any road in that condition let alone the Famous Cabot Trail. Respectfully , both MLA members either side of the county were contacted ?. MacMaster responded Bain did not . Apparently, the section in question had work begun Fall 2018 & expected completion of the project Fall 2019 . Joe
