Family Safaris In Kenya

Family Safaris In Kenya

What’s more natural than children and animals? Visit any zoo and you’ll see kids’ natural affinity for our four-legged and winged creatures. Now imagine taking your family on safari to view all sorts of wildlife up close on the savannahs and hills that are their natural home.

Kenya is the perfect spot for a family safari in Africa, as members of all ages can enjoy special time together in this magical place. Go for a hot air balloon ride over the Masai Mara, see the elephants parade by Mt. Kilimanjaro, or play on the sands at Diani Beach. If you’ve ever considered an African family safari, a vacation in Kenya checks all the boxes for fun, adventure, safety, and family-friendly lodges.

Let’s Start in Nairobi

Kenya’s busy capital city is a starting point for many safaris throughout the country but it’s also a great place for easy and accessible family wildlife adventures. Your youngsters will share their delight with Kenyan schoolchildren as they get up close to giant Rothschild’s giraffes at the unique Giraffe Centre. Kids can climb the feeding platform, hold out pellets of giraffe food and watch as a giant green tongue licks them away!

Who doesn’t like baby elephants? Your whole family will gush over the orphaned baby elephants as they come charging for their giant baby bottles. This is the scene at the David Sheldrick Elephant Orphanage, home to baby elephants who also like to roll in the mud and kick soccer balls about.

For a super-quick trip to a real wildlife park, a ten-minute ride from downtown will land your family at Nairobi National Park. Within sight of the city’s skyscrapers, you’ll discover lion, rhino, giraffe, zebra, and so much more – all in the wild, and yet just minutes from your hotel.

?More Easy Family Safaris

Want to take the family on some easy trips to nearby national parks? These one-day tours can be part of a larger package or serve as quick outings from Nairobi:

Legendary Tsavo Parks

There’s something enchanting about giant elephants rolling in the red-dusty soil and giving themselves a rosy “makeover”. The youngsters will be delighted. The big Tsavo Parks, East and West, are special reserves with plenty of wildlife and unexpected treats like hidden lush oases with hippos and crocodiles, and a big rhino sanctuary protecting dozens of the gentle creatures.
