"Family over everything"? is a meaningful cliche.

"Family over everything" is a meaningful cliche.

Family over everything-Those three words may seem simple, but they hold so much weight and meaning. Family is the foundation upon which we build our lives. They are the people who have been there for us through thick and thin, the ones who have shared in our joys and our sorrows. They are the ones who have loved us unconditionally and without reservation.

As I think about my own family, I am filled with so much emotion. I think about all the times we shared together, the laughter and the tears, the milestones and the everyday moments. I think about my parents, who have always been my rock, my constant source of support and guidance. They have taught me so much about what it means to be a good person, to work hard, and to never give up on my dreams. Of course, there have been challenges along the way. We have had disagreements and conflicts, moments of frustration and anger. But through it all, we have always come back to each other. We have always found a way to forgive, heal, and move forward.

As I reflect on all of this, I am reminded of just how lucky I am to have such an incredible family. They have given me so much love and support over the years, and I know that I wouldn't be the person I am today without them. They are my everything, and I am so grateful for each and every one of them.

Today in my second post, I reflect upon five important lessons that my parents taught me irrespective of whether I did a job, became the first TED-Ed Educator in my region, organized my city's first TEDx event, built the first team of Global shapers of World Economic Forum, etc.

  1. Work hard and persevere: My dad always emphasized the importance of working hard and persevering through challenges. By staying focused and working hard, we can overcome challenges and achieve our goals. By putting in effort and staying committed, we can accomplish things that we might not have thought were possible.
  2. Take calculated risks: This is important because it allows us to step outside of our comfort zones and try new things that have the potential for great rewards. By taking calculated risks, we can learn and grow, and potentially achieve things that we might not have been able to otherwise.
  3. Build relationships and treat people well: Building strong relationships is critical to success in any business. I was taught the importance of treating others well, being kind, and building strong connections with others. This is important because our relationships with others can greatly impact our happiness and success. By treating people well and building positive relationships, we can create a supportive network of people who can help us in various ways.
  4. Focus on your strengths and interests: Successful people often have a deep passion for their work, and they focus on their strengths and interests to build successful businesses. My family encouraged me to explore my interests and talents and to pursue a career that aligned with my passion. This is important because when we focus on what we're good at and what we enjoy, we are more likely to excel and feel fulfilled in our work and personal lives.
  5. Manage your finances wisely: Managing finances is an important aspect of your journey whether you are an entrepreneur or in a corporate job. This is important because financial stability is crucial for our overall well-being. By managing our finances wisely, we can avoid the stress and hardship that can come from financial difficulties, and have more freedom to pursue our goals and enjoy life.

  • My Mom said-You should be a person who creates a budget and tracks your spending to ensure you are not overspending and are saving for the future.
  • My Dad said-You should invest your money in a diverse range of assets, such as stocks, bonds, and real estate, to create long-term wealth.

To anyone reading this, I encourage you to take a moment to think about your own family. Think about all the ways they have supported you, all the memories you have shared, and all the lessons they have taught you. And if you can, take a moment to reach out to them and let them know how much they mean to you. Because family truly is everything.

Nicely written Reetika Madaan. So much fodder in it to reflect and be grateful for, to our parents and those who shaped us up to who we are today. Keep writing, keep sharing. God bless.

It's written so beautifully that it makes every person reading it to think about their lives with their parents and siblings
