Family Friday edition: Why your new year resolutions fail and how to fix it?

Alright! We all know that it's a new year's time and everyone is working on their list of to-dos for next year.
Gym memberships are about to skyrocket and Amazon is going to have the best month ever.
But then what?
There are studies show that upwards of 80% or more people never keep their new year resolution just after 30 days.
The reason we fail, in my opinion, is these resolutions are too grand for us to handle.
I learned with my startup Terminus over the last 5 years.
5 years ago, if you would have said, Sangram, you are going to be one of the founder of Deloitte's fastest-growing company, one of the best places to work, or author two books on marketing with no marketing degree, let me tell you, I would have laughed and helped you walk out!
But that's what happened and the reason is that when we break your goals down to smaller manageable chunks, something magical happens.
That's the key!
You start to build confidence in yourself and you are not standing a little taller and sounding a little smarter each and every day. Before you know it, you are miles ahead of who you were a year ago.
So that's what this 52-week challenge is and I want you in!
My family and I decided to do one small change every week so it becomes a routine and then the next week we will add another thing to it and see how it goes.
The reason I want you on it is that there needs to be accountability and ideas so we can keep going.
A few things I started doing this year that have fundamentally changed my mindset and self-confidence and pls do not judge me for it. Well, you may because you can keep me accountable.
- Making my own bed - I never did it. Embarrassed but it's true. I started doing it the last year, and it feels great!
- Journal 4 days a week - This was my first LinkedIn article that you might enjoy! Doing it for four years now using the HEART format.
- Writing letters to my wife when I travel - Nothing beats this. More on this in future newsletters
The point is to do something - anything new and good - and give it a week so it becomes part of you who you are and what you do and add another one.
So I googled...
You know that can tell you anything but the truth but sometimes it does have cool ideas. I think...
So we, as a family of four, wanted to choose the easiest, simplest thing that we can do as a family.
It talks about drinking water as soon as you wake up while you sit down will nourish, replenish, wake you up, flush the toxins, and make your skin glow.
Well - with two young kids we thought this was a great way to start so that's what we did for a week.
I tell you, it's actually really cool to sip water and sit around talking in the morning, and it's actually is good for you.
So there you have it.
Trying one new and good thing every week so that it becomes a routine.
Every Friday, I will share my results on this new and good thing we are starting as a family or individually to get better, stronger, happier in pursuit of having peak performance at work and in life.
To me, becoming intentional is about making small progress, every single day!
