Family Court Counselors
What is the role of a counselor at a family court ? The definition of Counselor on Google, " Professional counselors help clients identify goals and potential solutions to problems which cause emotional turmoil; seek to improve communication and coping skills; strengthen self-esteem; and promote behavior change and optimal mental health". Well ! Going by this and various other definitions of "Counselor", it can safely be understood, that by no stretch of imagination, a counselor can represent both parties; it therefore logically follows, that the Counselor, is there to promote the interest of any one party; else there would be a conflict of interest. One may argue, a family court counselor can be neutral; but NO, Whats going on in family courts at Bandra Mumbai and Thane, is far from the truth, litigating parties are called in the consular's room without their respective advocates or any person to assist them, and more often than not, the man is intimidated, by inducing fear in his mind of imaginary repercussions, if he fails to concede to the irrational demands put forth by the counselor on behalf of the woman; as if the counselor, is acting for and on behalf of the woman. More confusion and opposition is encountered than diffused, thereby creating more scope of litigating; and for which counselors are bleeding the State Ex-checker, of funds by way of salaries and other facilities, not to mention, some counselors are in league with the woman litigant or the advocate of the woman litigant to share the spoils or other form of nepotism.
