Families of Sleep Number

“I’m a family-based person – spending time with my wife and kids is how I recharge. No matter what is going on in my life, they are my rock and push me to be better every day. I married my high school sweetheart, and we have three grown sons (27, 22, 20), who were all born on the seventh day of different months – June 7, July 7 and October 7. One currently lives in Florida with us, one is establishing his career and my youngest is in college. I’m immensely proud of them!

As a family, we enjoy traveling. For the past eight years, my wife and I have gone to a different Caribbean island to celebrate our anniversary in July. This year we’re going to Grenada. With our boys, we travel to different sporting events, usually baseball or football. We’re big fans of the University of South Carolina football team and the NFL Washington Commanders.

I own and race quarter horses and thoroughbreds, which I’ve been doing for about four years. It started as something to do on the weekends, but last year I teamed up with family and friends to start our own racing stable called Faith Over Fear Racing – my youngest son has really gotten into it. We currently have three horses running – Washita Capo, Sparky Kazaam and Prissy Divine. We’re in the middle of racing season; my horses usually each run eight races between March and October in Oklahoma, Texas, New Mexico and the Carolinas. I have a trip this month to see all three of them race. I stream all their races live but try to make it in person when I can.

I think what people would find surprising about the world of horse racing is the level of commitment. These horses and trainers go through the same level of preparation and physical training as professional athletes. Horse racing is a passion of mine – it keeps me going!

I’ve been with Sleep Number for more than 12 years in a variety of roles at three of our Assembly Distributions Centers (ADCs): South Carolina, Maryland and, currently, Florida. My team comes first, and I strongly believe I am who I am today because of the team members I’ve worked with and the leaders I’ve had. My experience and the opportunities I’ve had here have made me a better team member, father, and husband.

One of my favorite moments here at Sleep Number?was receiving the Bradley E. Erikson award earlier this year?as part of the Pre-assembled Smart Bed Distribution Network team. It was exciting to see our new assembly process come together, which is making a big impact for team members and customers.

At Sleep Number, I am a Site Leader, Assembly Distribution Operations in Tampa, FL, and my Sleep Number? setting is 65.”
