FAMILIES HELPED: GREAT STORIES OF HOPE AND HELP

FAMILIES HELPED: GREAT STORIES OF HOPE AND HELP

FAMILIES HELPED: GREAT STORIES OF HOPE AND HELP, read below from the heating contractor J & S Heating who is partnering with Kristan Cole The Kristan Cole Team KW Alaska Group to make this all happen.

Jimmy had an appt to fix a hot water heater disrupted in the earthquake. He drove from our home in Settlers Bay to Hyer Rd and because it took him 10 minutes for the repair, the home owner was elderly & he could sense she was likely on a limited income he didn’t charge her anything.

On his way back home from the Hyer Rd property he stopped at another house that had a HWH leaking/no hot water. He did not know anything about this ladies situation at all prior to going and again he repaired the issue in 10 minutes and did not charge her at all. Come to find out she is a widower and had found her husband deceased in the home sometime not too long ago.

A past client of Kristan's raved about how much she appreciated what we did. Her family had no heat or hot water and there was no out of pocket cost for them because of the financial support from Kristan Cole's organization.

The homeowner in Chugiak had no heat or hot water but needed parts so the he offered to run to Anchorage to pick up the parts because Jimmy still had 2 more appointments in Eagle River and it was about 4:00 by this time. So the guy ended up calling Jimmy to let him know that he broke down on the Glenn Hwy so Jimmy offered to come pick him up, helped him push his car off the road and gave him a ride back to his house. Spent 3.5 hours there but fixed both the heat and hot water. This has been the only client that has actually paid out of pocket and it was only $100, KCN paid the rest.

One of the Eagle River homes had no heat and special needs kids living there. He had to go back to that home a 2nd time though. And again no charge to them, the rest was covered by Kristan's Team.

Another elderly man, resident of Alaska for like 37 years couldn’t get his pilot light lit after the quake. Obviously that was fixed quickly but the man wanted to make sure that we were not taking advantage of Kristan and over charging her. LOL!! Jimmy said there’s no way I would be able to do that, first my girlfriend does the invoicing and 2nd she has worked for Kristan for 20 years.

The Alaska Dream Center (The alcohol & drug rehabilitation center) that I shared by text had no heat for 2 days. Jimmy’s friend offered to pay any expense out of his own pocket above and beyond what Kristan's team paid. Jimmy fixed their heat in about an hour without charging more than $150. That’s including parts and labor.

Most of these people’s homes were still a complete disaster too when Jimmy went. As you can imagine who want to try and clean up broken things while you are worried about not having heat or hot water in your home and having to pay a company who knows how much to come out. And most of these big companies don’t get to you immediately. One lady had someone come out from another company to fix her garage unit heater and he said he would have to get parts and come back and she hasn’t heard from him since. Sad....

I know this is getting long but if I wanted to throw this story in as well…You can’t google our company and find us anywhere yet so if anyone questions how good Jimmy is or experienced, etc…The day after Thanksgiving his friend called him & said hey I have some friends that are having issues with their furnace & they called another company (won’t mention names) who told them it would cost $400 just to have them come out to diagnose the problem. Well who in their right mind would pay that? So they called Jimmy. Long story short the homeowners also had him look at their garage heater (which hasn’t worked in 6 years & they had 2 companies tell them it would be $1400 to replace it) and had Jimmy look at their fireplace as well (that hasn’t worked in 8 yrs and they had 4 HVAC techs & 2 electricians & $800 into it telling them it needs replaced & it would be $5000 not including tile work that would have to be redone). Jimmy fixed everything (without replacing anything) including parts and labor for less than $600. INTEGRITY MATTERS

We have done everything we can to keep costs as low as possible to help as many people as possible. After these last few hectic days I sit down and look at the invoices I have written up and I think wow that doesn’t seem like that many people but to put it in perspective Jimmy has literally put over 1200 miles on his truck since Friday. Our invoices currently equal $1845.00. So there is still plenty of money to continue helping families in need.

GREAT REPORT J&S! Thank you for all you guys are doing to keep costs low so we can help more people!

If you know of anyone who is struggling getting their heat and or their water back on, call Jimmy at 907-232-5023 and we get your heat on and your water flowing. Do not despair because there isn't any federal assistance. This is what communities are suppose to do and we are grateful for the many who are serving their communities right now in Alaska.
