Fame Fame is the name of the game

did you ever wonder how some artists sell for crazy prices and others cant sell does it seem like there is no rhyme or reason for it?

well here is a little insider scoop, the real deal is not as pretty as the market analysts make it out to be, almost all of the value of contemporary art in the market is exclusively the ratio of how well known the artist is, what social or economic issue their art stands for or what gender they identify with, none of these things have anything to do with their talent or creative ability or lack thereof. it doesn't look that way because the mega bucks hire critics to explain the art in Lamens terms so the public can understand it. these wealthy individuals who shape the scope of the art market for the most part have no education in art, very little understanding of it, most often they view it as a purely financial goal , a conversation piece, or a way to gain access to some upper echelons of society. none of these things have anything to do with creativity. henceforth the market seems skewed because you could have a artist who has no particular masterful talent but because they are a young woman the gallery or dealer will promote them because of their looks (not to take away from their talent, it could very well be they have much to offer the art world)

we need to bring back creativity to the forefront of our collective consiescness and open the playing field to all who have what to offer, its about time we flattend the playing field and made equal opportunites availbe to all who have what to offer and really put in concerted effort.

creativity will rule again in the near future, coming soon at a gallery or auction near you. until next time, i appreciate every one of you.
