FALSE DAWN
Roll on the day
The NHS laying back
In a post-coital blur
Exhausted from the long and frenzied act of love
You held us during the dark storm
Comforting
Reassuring
"This Too Will Pass"
...and pass it has
Burned out
Overwhelmed
Who will deal with the repercussions
Those unfortunate remnants
Anxiety
Repression
Anger
Frustration
...and even longer waiting lists
Check the small print
The Terms and Conditions
It's your responsibility
What we had was not legally binding
We "clapped" during the crisis
You angels received our plaudits
...but tellingly NOT your P.P.E.
You saw us through the night
Now discarded
Condom - like
We will not call you
We will not text you
We will not "be there" for you
We are too busy
Getting our lives back
Seeking the new "normal".
Pen and ink artist. Showing you what you can't see.
4 年Fantastic writing, even if it made me a little sad. Let's try to make sure that we do better.

4 年About the poem, that's why I am extremely careful whom I rely on. So I can save myself disappointments. The entities I rely on fight with their might to get us through. It always pays off to believe in them and stick with them.
