Falling With Style - Flying

Falling With Style - Flying

"This isn't flying...it's falling with style." Woody

This week didn't happen. Seriously. Missed meetings, rough projects, fractured conversations, misunderstandings and apologies. I feel like I am somewhere between Buzz Light Year falling with style and the Greatest American Hero, who had to be reminded you need 3 steps before taking off if you want to fly. Kids today have no idea how good television shows are today, I'd argue the theme music was better back in the day, but really, this week was hard.

I've had a reoccurring conversation in my head, address the drama. A few years ago we had a no drama policy at MPY, in theory it was brilliant, we got rid of a lot of angst and pain that none of us wanted. One day I was reading an article by one of our Members, Laura Hilgers, on relationships and Men who write "no drama" on the dating profiles. I recognized we were avoiding talking thru the pain and agony, the real stuff by "dismissing drama." We are not the people who hide our emotions and bury our feelings. We live our lives openly, expressing our ideas and feelings boldly, demanding integrity and giving love generously. Laura motivated me to shift my thinking and reminded me to care.

We know there is a significant difference between "dumping your baggage" on someone and sharing your experience and what you are going thru. There is a conversation, an exchange of energy and progress achieved thru mutual attention and caring. As you know, I want to talk about politics with you and religion and food and love, these are difficult conversations and all of the reasons why we exercise and live healthy lives. We don't need to agree and I don't want to create drama in your life, but I do want to live this life fully with you. If we don't share the lows, we will not appreciate the highs together.

I have struggled this week feeling, crazy from my thoughts, angry with the racists and frustrated by entitlement. I also had brilliant conversations with people who encouraged me to do better, helped me see potential and ignited my spirit. I am committed to having all of the conversations, learning and tapping into my inner strength so that I can give more.

Love and Drama,

Jamie
