I’ve never considered Burberry as something to purchase before, not really ‘my thing’ I’ve always thought.
Then this new campaign came out and after seeing just one part of the ‘It’s Always Burberry Weather’ campaign films featuring the ever-classic and awe-inspiring Olivia Colman, I was hooked.
There is something about her version that draws you in, the quirky story ending, the traditional country car that gives an aura of Elizabeth driving through the woods.
After seeing this one, I sought out the other films, including Cole Palmers’ extended version that features him and basically the sounds of nature, to Zhang Jingyi’s decision to open the roof during a downpour - after all, she is wearing Burberry.
Some of them bring in soft humour, like Barry Keoghan's version where this incredible actor asks for feedback on his script, to others which are just soft moments of reflection or a chance to enjoy the company.
The way they are shot, the sublime warm colours, and the mix of countryside (Burberry is rooted in countryside style, of course) to the innercity hustle of a London train journey just ring out that Burberry fits. Wherever you are.
They are classic but modern, they are country but streetwear. They dive into the archives yet remain modern. They are Olivia Colman but also Little Simz. They might not be everyone’s budget, but they can be everyone’s style, and they have a piece for it.
So, in summary, I love these as much as I love the ever-regal Olivia Colman…which is a lot!
