Fallacy of Freedom

Is Freedom doing what you want when you want?

A common misconception pervades that Freedom means being able to do whatever you want without any consequences.?

When you live with the fallacy of Freedom, you're constantly chasing after things that you think will make you happy but never seem to find lasting satisfaction. As a result, you feel trapped and powerless and ever-yearning. But this isn't true Freedom at all.?

True Freedom comes from understanding the results of your actions and making choices that reflect your values and goals. It's not about being reckless or careless but about taking responsibility for your life and making choices that align with your highest ideals. And the truth is, you always have a choice. Though we grumble and forget it near constantly.

When you take responsibility for your life, you open yourself to true Freedom. You can't control everything that happens to you, but you can control how you react. You can choose to see the advantage in every situation (sometimes microscopic) and grow. You can also surround yourself with people who support and encourage. You need that tribe that will give you a pat on the back or a kick in the ass as needed.?

"Freedom is the only worthy goal in life.?It is won by disregarding things that lie beyond our control." Epictetus*

A bit of experience and Stoics I study collide into the belief that there are two types of things in the world:?those we can control and those we cannot;?this?dichotomy of control?reminds us the things that we can control are very small: our thoughts, attitudes, and actions. On the other hand, and perhaps obviously... we cannot control the weather, other people's thoughts, actions, or external events.?

This framework is a valuable way of thinking about life because it helps us focus on the things we can change. It allows us to set big goals and take small, consistent actions, which is the only way to improve. It also allows us to accept the things we cannot change and let go of them. When we focus on the things we can control, we gain a sense of ownership, autonomy, and Freedom, which is no fallacy.?

*I promise I read and study other teachers besides Epictetus, but no one speaks to the nature of Freedom so well, at least as I have come to understand it.

Very valuabled to point put the misconception about freedom. Person freedom is all about be accountable for choice after choice after choice to do what's required to produce the results you desire.

Luckily for us, in contemporary times, the pace of change from technological innovation allows us to know that almost anything, or I guess I have to say it without qualification, anything, then, is possible. It might mean a little wait, but it will come.
