Fall Into The Right Habits This Autumn!

Fall Into The Right Habits This Autumn!

There’s still three more beautiful months of 2022 this autumn before we start thinking about New Years’ resolutions for 2023. With a new school year starting, fall is the perfect time to reflect on what worked for you this summer and what you can still improve. Depending on where you live, the weather could still make it possible to grab that daily walk, get some sunshine on your face, and eat plenty of fresh-picked produce.?

HERE ARE 5 SIMPLE HABITS THAT CAN START YOUR AUTUMN SEASON OFF ON THE RIGHT FOOT!

1. SEEK OUT MORE SUNSHINE INTENTIONALLY.

As the days get shorter, it’s more challenging to get your face under the sun daily. Try your best to get 15 minutes of direct sunlight on your skin as early as possible in the morning. If morning doesn’t work, take a cooler evening walk. Perhaps you can eat your lunch outside to get your minutes of sunlight. The sun’s rays give off a vital ingredient to our health–Vitamin D in the form of ultraviolet B. Vitamin D helps the body absorb and keep calcium and phosphorus, both critical for building strong bones.

2. ADD IN VITAMIN D

Even people living where the sun shines strong all year long can suffer from vitamin D deficiencies. Consider talking with your doctor about taking a vitamin D supplement to help even your levels all year.

3. VISIT A FARMER’S MARKET.

Farmer’s markets are known as summer, but the harvest only gets more bountiful in the fall. Fall harvests include carrots, apples, pears, and kale. Meet with a friend and stock up on fresh, local produce to eat, freeze, and enjoy!

4. DRINK MORE WATER.

When it’s hot out, we’re more likely to hydrate well. Once it cools down, it’s easier to forget to drink water. One way to help you welcome fall is to put on the kettle and make a cup of tea. Most teas have healthy antioxidants and don’t have caffeine which is perfect for a bedtime drink.

5. GO TO BED ON TIME.

As the days grow shorter, it should be easier to get to bed at a reasonable time. What time is that? Whatever time gives you 7-8 hours of sleep. Proper sleep strengthens your immune system and helps heal your body at the cellular level. One thing that can help your body get ready to sleep? Turning down the lights and turning off the screens.

If you’ve been on a roll with choosing healthy habits during the summer, keep those habits rolling right into autumn.
